So long Cedric

As expected the Bears finally cut ties with Cedric Benson. It wasn't because of his lack of production. It wasn't because Matt Forte is so good that we had to let Cedric go. It was because for the second time in two months (five weeks actually) he embarrased the orginization that refused to give up on him. I would have bet you a month ago that there was no way that Cedric would get arrested again. After the way he denied the first arrest I even started to believe that he was innocent (it wouldn't have been the first time police in Texas got a little rough with a black man) and started to feel sorry for him. Of course I would have also bet you on draft day 2005 that Cedric was gonna put up well over 1,500 yards. I had watched the guy at Texas and he was a stud. I argued with my brother leading up to draft day on who the Bears should take with the 4th pick. We liked Braylon Edwards and Mike Williams but the reall argument was over Cadillac Williams and Cedric. It was hands down Cedric. Here was a guy that played Chicago Bears football. He was a power runner. Combined with Thomas Jones our backfield was going to be unstoppable. I wish I had known then that he hated being hit, that he couldn't share a backfield with someone that had more skill than him, that he was gonna wear a red jersey at practice because his teammates hit him too hard. He has truly shown how stupid he is. The Bears gave him chance after chance and he blew it. He did give us over 1,500 yards though. 1,593 to be exact.
